O EBITDA ou LAJIDA retrata o lucro antes dos juros, impostos, depreciações, exaustões e amortizações, identificando, assim, a
capacidade operacional de criação de fluxo de caixa, possibilitando avaliar a capacidade de a empresa honrar seus compromissos, sua liquidez, solvência e flexibilidade financeira,
bem como, a performance operacional de diferentes empresas, por eliminar os efeitos de distintos tratamentos contábeis para as mesmas transações. Assim sendo, esse trabalho tem
como objetivo geral avaliar o desempenho das empresas de distribuição de energia elétrica classificadas entre as 500 Maiores empresas, segundo seu faturamento, pela Revista Exame Melhores e Maiores de 2004, sob a ótica do
indicador EBITDA. Ao final da pesquisa, chegou-se a conclusão que, apesar da crise sofrida pelo setor durante o período analisado, a maior concentração de empresas foi na
classificação de Melhores, ou seja, foram conceituadas, segundo a análise dos decis, como boas ou ótimas.

ABSTRACT

The EBITDA or LAJIDA represents the profit before the interest, taxes, depreciation/deplations and amortization,
identifying then the operational capacity of cashflow allowing an evaluation of the capacity of the company to maintain its responsibilities, its liquidity, solvency and financial flexibility,
as well as the operational performance of different companies, as it eliminates the effects of differents accountancy’s procedures to the same transactions. This way, this work aims to evaluate the performance of the electrical energy distribution companies ranked among the 500 biggest companies according to their invoicing, by the magazine Revista Exame
Melhores e Maiores de 2004, under the view of the EBITDA indicator. By the end of the research, it was possible to conclude that in spite of this sector’s crisis during the analyzed
period, the biggest concentration of companies was in the classification of Melhores, meaning they were ranked – by the decis analysis – as good or very good.
